Sony Trying To Top Best Nikon Cameras?

Those knowledgeable on the subject know that the global camera market is dominated by a plethora of Japanese-based companies, and the two true Kings of the industry are Nikon and Canon. What gets you “King of the industry” status? Well, considering the two combine for 70% of the global market, yeah, I’m going to crown them.

But apparently, it’s Sony that’s making a push to top the best Nikon cameras and Canon cameras.

With new additions to their Alpha series of translucent mirror cameras, Sony is hoping they can take down the Kings.

According to a recently published report in the Korean Times, “Sony recently launched the Alpha 33 and 55 cameras… the two cameras, which look like digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras but are more compact and weigh less, are distinguished by translucent mirrors that separate the optical pathway between the main image sensor and a phase-detection autofocus sensor. The technology allows the cameras to track fast-moving objects with better precision”

Personally, I’m a little nervous about naming any other camera company King of a market Nikon and Canon have been running as long as I can recall. When something, someone, or in this case, some company is able to maintain a high level of success for an extended period of time, they deserve and earn my loyaly. Which is exactly why I still only consider new Nikon cameras and Canon cameras.

I have been a dedicated Nikon 35mm fan for years, but this is my first Nikon digital camera. I did debate very long between the SLR series and the Coolpix line, but in the end, the compact design and the lighter weight of the Coolpix nudged me in that direction. So far, I am not disappointed.
